Early Life and the Fateful Night

The Trial and Conviction

Life Behind Bars and Appeal
Lyle and Erik spent over 27 years in prison, with Lyle being incarcerated at the Mule Creek State Prison and Erik at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility. During their time behind bars, the brothers maintained their innocence and claimed that they had been wrongly convicted. In 2017, the brothers were resentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after the California Supreme Court reduced their sentences.:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(1007x395:1009x397)/Eight-Other-Menendez-Documentaries-Once-You-Watch-Monsters-Lyle-Erik-Menendez-Story-08-cbc1fce9fce4465f85e43de7021e9774.jpg)
